Italians will be asked to reduce their central heating by one degree and switch it off for one hour every day from October to help tackle the energy crisis, ANSA news agency quoted Environment Transition Minister Roberto Cingolani as saying on Thursday.

As part of the energy saving plan, Chingolani has ruled out a return to distance learning to save energy.

Italians are facing a huge energy crisis amid spiraling electricity prices due to the war in Ukraine and Russian "gas blackmail".
