The chief prosecutor of Armenia, Artur Davtyan, suggested the death sentence for treason against the state.

APA TV reports that the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia released information about this.

"Such terrible facts about treason are recorded that for social justice and security, the harshest punishments, including the death penalty, should be applied," said Davtyan.

The prosecutor said that Armenia has no international legal obligations regarding the death sentence.

Regarding the issue, he appealed to the Council for Constitutional Amendments and Justice Minister Karen Andreasyan to make appropriate changes.

The Prosecutor General noted that the reason for this is the need to strengthen the fight against treason after the 44-day war, and the current security challenges in the region support the death sentence decision.
