Mamta said – Not all people in RSS are bad, there are many people in this who do not support BJP

Kolkata :

A 'political storm' has erupted over Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's statement on Wednesday that not all people in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are bad and there are many people in it. Do not support BJP.

Regarding this statement, where AIMIM, Congress and CPI(M) have targeted Mamta, calling it her opportunism, while BJP has said that the RSS does not need Mamta's certificate.

Instead of commenting on this praise, the RSS pointed to the record of political violence in Bengal and suggested measures to control it.

The sharpest comment on Mamta's statement came from AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi who said "In 2003 also Mamta had called the RSS a patriot and in response the RSS called her Durga."

However, the TMC did not give much importance to Owaisi's reaction and said that the party does not need to prove its secularism before him (Owaisi).

Reacting to the statement, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "This is not the first time that she (Mamata Banerjee) has praised the RSS."

Mamta has been a part of NDA during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure as Prime Minister.

He reiterated Owaisi's reference to 2003 when Mamata participated in a book release program of the RSS.

Chaudhary claimed that Mamta had also expressed her gratitude to the Nagpur-based RSS, which is the ideological body of the BJP.

Adhir Ranjan said, "She sometimes pleases Hindu fundamentalists and sometimes Muslims to get electoral benefits.

Mamta Banerjee has been exposed again." On the other hand, CPI(M) Central Committee member Sujon Chakraborty said that the Bengal CM's remarks confirmed the stand of the Left parties that Mamata is the product of the RSS.
