After taking oath as a minister in the newly formed Grand Alliance government in Bihar, the controversial minister Karthik Kumar has finally had to leave the ministerial post.

Bihar Sugarcane Industries Minister Karthik Kumar, accused in the kidnapping case, today submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The Chief Minister has accepted his resignation and sent his recommendation to the Governor.

He sent his recommendation to Governor Fagu Chauhan.

Karthik Kumar is no longer a member of the Council of Ministers of State.

Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Alok Kumar Mehta has been given additional charge of Sugarcane Industries Department.


Earlier on Tuesday, the department of Law Minister Karthik Kumar of the Mahagathbandhan government of Bihar was changed.

The inclusion of Karthik Kumar in the cabinet despite his alleged involvement in a kidnapping case was heavily criticized by the opposition.

According to a notification issued by Bihar Chief Secretary Amir Subhani, on the advice of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on the advice of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on August 30, by an order of Governor's Secretariat, Karthik Kumar was replaced by the Law Department with the Sugarcane Industries Department and Shamim Ahmed the Law Department in place of the Sugarcane Industries Department.
