The American film actor and former governor of the state of California Arnold Schwarzenegger said that Mikhail Gorbachev was one of his heroes, write the British editions "Independent" and "Standard".

According to Schwarzenegger, Gorbachev belongs to history.

He added that he considered the former Soviet leader one of his friends and shared that he was extremely lucky to have such a man as a friend.

Schwarzenegger posted on his Instagram account a photo of him together with Gorbachev.

"There's an old saying that goes, 'Never meet those you consider your heroes. I think that's the worst advice I've ever heard. Mikhail Gorbachev was one of my heroes and I was honored and a joy to meet him. I was incredibly lucky to be able to call him a friend," Schwarzenegger wrote.

"We can all learn from his incredible life," he added.
