"Equinor" (Equinor) has reached an agreement with the German company "Wintershall Dea" (Wintershall Dea) for the construction of a system for the extraction of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air, its transportation and storage, the Norwegian energy corporation informed on its website, quoted by BTA.

The carbon dioxide will be transported via a special pipeline from Central Europe to the Norwegian continental shelf in the North Sea.

There it will be stored in repositories built under the seabed.

According to preliminary estimates, the pipeline will transport between 20 and 40 million tons of carbon dioxide per year.

This equates to around 20 percent of the CO2 emissions emitted by industry in Germany each year.

The pipeline, about 900 kilometers long, will connect a carbon dioxide extraction plant in northern Germany with offshore storage facilities in Norway.

"The goal of the project is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in European countries. It will contribute to their recycling and is an important tool in the transition to a green economy and the achievement of net zero carbon emissions by 2050," said the announcement of " Equinor".
