Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev discussed the pollution of the Araz River by Armenia in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Jafar Montazeri.

According to APA's Tehran office, Kamran Aliyev, who is on a visit to Tehran, expressed his concerns about the ecological situation of the Araz River in a meeting with his Iranian colleague.

"Regarding environmental issues, you said that you met with your Armenian colleague, but I don't know how honest they are in Araz river, because we know that they discharge industrial waste into Araza," he said.

At the meeting, Iran's Prosecutor General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri emphasized the need for close interaction between the two countries in the field of environmental issues.

"Regarding the issue of water pollution in the Araz River, which passes through the territory of four countries, we believe that we should have a high level of interaction regarding the health of the environment. I visited Armenia in this regard, and we expect cooperation from Azerbaijan."
