Bulgaria strongly supports all efforts to overcome the deficit in defense funding in the EU.

We recognize the need for a joint acquisition and procurement tool.

This will enable more efficient defense spending, improve European defense capabilities and increase interoperability.

This was stated by Minister Dimitar Stoyanov

Dimitar Stoyanov was born on October 28, 1968 in Svilengrad.

In 1986, it ended during the informal meeting of the defense ministers of the member states of the European Union in Prague, Darik reports.

How to tackle EU defense investment shortfalls and the global security implications of Russia's war in Ukraine were the focus of defense ministers' working sessions.

The informal meeting was attended by the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, the Chairman of the Committee on Security and Defense in the European Parliament Nathalie Loiseau and NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary-General Jörg See.

The defense ministers discussed the European Commission's proposals for strengthening defense capabilities.

The task of the already established joint defense procurement task force is to coordinate the replenishment by European manufacturers of the most urgent defense capabilities.

"We support and participate in joint multinational capability-building projects within a joint European approach not only as a way to share costs, but also as a tool to invest in strategic capabilities and strengthen the EU's defense industrial capacity."

We believe that the Commission will create conditions for a balanced approach with the participation of the defense industry of the member states and equal conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises", said Minister Stoyanov.

Regarding the armaments and equipment inherited from the Soviet era, the Minister of Defense emphasized that we agree with the urgent need to replace them and expect the Commission to propose a workable solution, taking into account the significant resources required.

Borel: The EU must agree on a joint mission to train Ukrainian troops

"While we support Ukraine in the best possible way, our efforts must also be directed at dealing with the consequences of the war - within the EU and globally.

Undoubtedly, the new dynamics require an urgent readjustment of existing policies, not only in the field of security and defense, but also in other sectors, such as energy and the economy.

Close coordination between the EU and NATO and the EU and the UN in defense of international law and the rules-based international order is of paramount importance," Minister Stoyanov stated categorically.

"Bulgaria continues its commitment to the EU operation Altea, as well as to NATO's KFOR, which are important factors for the stability and security of the region," the minister added.
