The final natural gas price increase from September is expected to be greater than 5.95 percent.

This was said by the executive director of "Bulgargaz" Denitsa Zlateva during the open meeting to discuss a report on the company's August 11 application to approve a price for September at which the public supplier will sell natural gas to final suppliers and to persons to whom a license was issued for the production and transmission of thermal energy.

The report states that "Bulgargaz" proposes for approval a natural gas price for September of BGN 315.61 per megawatt hour (without access, transmission, excise and VAT prices), including the "public supply" component of BGN 2.24 per megawatt-hour and the "obligations to society" component of BGN 0.35 per megawatt-hour.

BTA reminds that KEVR approved a price for August in the amount of BGN 297.89 per megawatt hour (without prices for access, transmission, excise duty and VAT).

The initial request of "Bulgargaz" was to raise the price by 5.95 percent from September compared to the current one for August.

KEVR discusses the price of gas for September

Zlateva pointed out that the stock index, which Bulgargaz refers to when determining the price for the next month, has increased by nearly 17 percent from the date of submission of the application until now.

She added that in recent days the index has grown significantly due to the suspension of supplies on "Nord Stream 1" due to remote activities.

Therefore, taking into account this growth of the index as of August 31, the final price increase is expected to be greater than that in the submitted application, writes BTA.

In any case, this increase will be less than the increase of the index itself, assured the executive director of "Bulgargaz".

An updated application will be submitted on the morning of September 1st.
