Let us tell you, the death toll due to floods in Pakistan reached 1,061 on Monday, while international aid has started reaching after the appeal of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif government, which is facing economic crisis.

The magnitude of the floods can be estimated from the fact that 33 million people, that is, about a seventh of the total population of the country, have been displaced.

Pakistan's Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman called it the "worst monsoon of the decade", while Finance Minister Mifta Ismail said the floods caused losses of up to US$10 billion to Pakistan's economy.

At least 1,061 people have died and 1,575 were injured due to the floods, according to the latest data released on Monday by the National Disaster Management Authority, the main national organization dealing with natural disasters.

The authority said that around 9,92,871 houses have been completely or partially damaged, depriving lakhs of people of food and clean drinking water etc.

Along with this, about 7.19 lakh animals have also been killed and lakhs of acres of fertile land are submerged due to incessant rains.

Officials said the death toll could be much higher as thousands of villages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are cut off from the rest of the country and roads and bridges have been destroyed by overflowing rivers, the Express Tribune newspaper reported.

According to a news in Geo TV, Pakistan's Ministry of Energy said that restoration of electricity in Sindh and Balochistan provinces is the top priority.

Pakistan, which is facing difficulties in coping with this horrific disaster, has sought international help and many countries have sent humanitarian aid with solidarity messages.

The BBC, citing a close aide of Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif, said that the country is in great need of international help.

Officials said the US, Britain, the United Arab Emirates and others have helped in response to the disaster appeal, but more money is needed.
