Turkey has welcomed the new agreement between Kosovo and Serbia for freedom of movement at the border points in both countries.

As "Anadolu Agency" reports, in the statement issued by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey, it is said that Turkey hopes that both parties will come to an agreement on the license plate issue.

"We welcome the agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia on border points with identity cards.

We hope that the parties will agree on other issues, especially on the issue of license plates, as soon as possible," the ministry's statement said.

Noting that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke by phone with his Kosovo and Serbian counterparts to defuse the tension, he said Turkey also continued to call on the parties to act with restraint.

"Turkey, as a Balkan country, attaches great importance to maintaining peace and stability in the Balkans and supports solving problems through dialogue, as well as initiatives for this purpose.

Turkey will continue to strive to maintain peace and stability in the region," he added.

On August 27, Kosovo and Serbia reached an agreement to waive the issuance of entry-exit documents for the citizens of the two countries.
