According to former energy minister Alexander Nikolov, whether there will be gas in our country in the winter depends on current actions.

"Unfortunately, they are putting at risk what has been going on since October.

With the offer that was left to the regular cabinet and with the quantities from the long-term contract with Azerbaijan, and with the available planned quantities in "Chiren", more than 80% of the total consumption was secured.

When there is a 20% shortfall, it can easily be balanced with energy efficiency measures.

When you refuse the seven tankers, and for the months when consumption is heaviest in Bulgaria, October-April, it's strange to say the least," Nikolov told BTV.

He added that Bulgargaz's top management had started talks with a specific company for 20 tankers over a much longer period.

"The next offer was for 13 tankers and then reduced to 7 tankers - precisely because the infrastructure and alternative routes on which they can be unloaded were being investigated," explained the former energy minister.

According to him, if there was a desire to unload the tankers, at least this would have been evident from the actions of the caretaker government.

Kiril Petkov: There were slots in Greece, but the cabinet chose to take only one ship

"When you have a compelling offer from one side, the other has the right to accept it.

Even without the infrastructure, given that gas is currently in short supply throughout Europe due to the behavior of one critical supplier.

The most reasonable thing you can do is to realize a financial benefit for society and your country.

If you really can't unload them, then you have the opportunity to take them and sell them, or replace them," said Nikolov.
