"It is extremely regrettable that French President Emmanuel Macron made statements targeting Turkey along with some countries during his visit to Algeria."

APA's Istanbul correspondent reports that this is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.

It was noted that French President Macron, who is having trouble facing the colonial past of his country, especially Algeria, in Africa, and trying to get rid of this past by accusing other countries, including Turkey, is unacceptable.

"Turkey, which promotes friendship rather than enmity and is among the strategic partners of the African Union, is developing its relations with both Algeria and other countries of the African continent day by day, and these relations are based on mutual trust and progress in a manner that respects the will of the countries."

If the Turkish Foreign Ministry thinks that France has positions against it on the African continent, it should try to fix the source of this in its colonial past.

"To claim that these reactions are caused by the activities of third countries, instead of facing and solving problems related to one's own past, is not only a denial of an event and history, but also reflects the distorted mentality of some politicians.

We hope that France will come to maturity as soon as possible to face its colonial past without blaming other countries, including our country," the statement emphasized.
