The representatives of the government yesterday once again called on the MPs in the Parliament, especially those from the opposition, to support the constitutional changes and not to block the country's path towards the EU, while the OBRM-PDUKM stands in the opinion that he will not support the proposals for changing the Constitution.

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski called on all 120 deputies to be up to the task and support the continuation of the country's path towards full membership in the EU, supporting the constitutional changes.

He emphasized that the constitutional changes will go through a parliamentary discussion process and are something the country should do and should not be used for narrow party interests.

"I believe that all 120 deputies should support the constitutional changes, because they bring parts of other peoples who live here, who have expressed the desire to be part of our Constitution.

We already have some parts of the nations that are part of the Constitution, except for the Macedonian people.

There are countries with 25 states in the Constitution, like Croatia, and this only enriches social cohesion", Kovacevski said at a press conference in the Government.

He emphasizes that every deputy has an obligation to the citizens and the state for the European future, and for this reason there is a discussion in the Assembly that must be based on arguments, facts and perspectives of the country.

According to him, two coalitions are clearly differentiated in the country, one "for a European North Macedonia", which together with the dominant part of the citizens wants to see the country as part of the EU, and OBRM-PDUKM and the left, which are against joining the Union and for this they constantly find new reasons that have nothing to do with reality.

"Here I call on the government that this proposal goes to the Assembly to see that they do not have the support of OBRM-PDUKM deputies.

The proposals for constitutional amendments will be submitted to the Assembly and after that we will go to early parliamentary elections", said Aleksandar Nikoloski in a guest appearance on Kanal 5 news, adding that early parliamentary elections "must be held, that the people to express his opinion.

He also added that OBRM-PDUKM has not given up on the referendum on the "French proposal" and that it is actively and intensively working on its organization.

"We said that at the end of this month and at the beginning of September we will come out with concrete positions regarding the issue and how this referendum would be implemented.

I hope that the authorities will gather enough courage and give people the opportunity to express their opinion about the Bulgarian proposal and about this controversial agreement that they signed", emphasized Nikoloski.
