Specialists from Cuba and the United States exchanged experiences on environmental sanitation and rehabilitation work related to the incident that occurred in the western city of Matanzas

According to the source, the virtual dialogue, described as professional and helpful, involved experts from the island who work in the area of ​​the accident that occurred at the Matanzas Supertanker Base, and US specialists from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). , for its acronym in English).

The parties discussed possible avenues of cooperation for the rehabilitation of the most affected areas.

The Cuban delegation, made up of specialists from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, updated its counterpart on the actions carried out, for its assessment.

The possibility of accessing the most innovative techniques and procedures accumulated both by the EPA and by companies linked to the oil sector and other agencies involved in these types of accidents was

also analyzed.

After the extinction of the large-scale fire that began on August 5 due to an electrical discharge in a fuel depot, several Cuban institutions are carrying out rehabilitation work in the area, while monitoring possible environmental damage.
