According to the publication, the German military counter-intelligence EM A De has clues about these espionage operations.

In particular, the bases in Idar-Oberstein (Rhineland-Palatinate) and Grafenwoehr (Bavaria) were observed - the latter is run by the US military.

German counterintelligence reported, for example, cars parked at the gates of military camps.

In Idar-Oberstein, the German army trained Ukrainian soldiers to use self-propelled howitzers, and in Grafenwoehr, American instructors trained Ukrainians to use Western-made artillery systems.

According to counterintelligence, small drones flew over the training grounds more than once.

In addition, the services in Berlin suspected that Russia was trying to tap the mobile phones of Ukrainians studying in Germany.

Counterintelligence also feared that services in Moscow were trying to eliminate oppositionists who had fled to Germany from Russia or deserters from the Russian security forces.
