On August 26, 2015, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaçi, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, put their signatures on the agreement on the demarcation of the border with Montenegro.

This year, the demarcation with Montenegro marked the seventh anniversary.

Seven years ago, two ministers of the Kosovo government signed a very important agreement in Vienna.

On August 26, 2015, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaçi, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, put their signatures on the agreement on the demarcation of the border with Montenegro.

This signature and the one for the association caused riots in Kosovo on the grounds that 8,000 hectares of land were lost, while tear gas was also used in the Assembly of Kosovo.

There, the ratification of this agreement was opposed, while the resistance against its approval, which required two-thirds of the votes, lasted for three years.

The agreement between Pristina and Podgorica managed to be ratified in the Parliament only after another formal agreement between the former president Hashim Thaçi and the Malaysian president, Milo Djukanovic, while in Pristina the post of prime minister was taken by Ramush Haradinaj, the fiercest opponent of the demarcation.

But, although four years have passed since that time, no step has been taken in the direction of revising the border between the Republic of Kosovo and Montenegro.

Since that time, three prime ministers have changed in Pristina, but concrete actions have never been taken.

Such actions have not even been seen under the government of Albin Kurti, who was also among the strong opponents of the demarcation agreement with Montenegro.

Kurti spoke about this topic four months ago, where he said that he is waiting for the inauguration of Dritan Abazović's government, which has already fallen.

The Government of Kosovo remained silent even in the questions that Radio Television Dukagjini addressed to them.

Meanwhile, the former member of the State Commission for marking the border line, Hamit Basholli, says that the review must definitely happen, but according to him, nothing can be done without the readiness of both sides.

"A border requires two parties, the government of Kosovo and the state of Kosovo, I believe it is waiting for a reconsideration of the border line, namely the segments that we have potentiated in the direction of Kulla and Çakorri, which are poorly defined, but for this we need the agreement of the government as well. of Montenegro.

A political momentum must be found that unites the two parties in order to re-examine the border line", stated Basholli.

On the other hand, former deputy of Vetëvendosje Ali Lajçi continues to maintain the position that the territory of Kosovo has been lost from this agreement.

"Demarcation is called demarcation and it should have been demarcation.

In fact, delimitation has been made, which means a new border line has been made, but not demarcation, we routinely call it demarcation.

This was a project that has shriveled the territory of Kosovo, already shriveled with a national program, and what's worse, he has shrunk it knowingly and with some false pressure", stated Lajçi.

A few months ago, former Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazović declared that the demarcation work is closed and is no longer a debate in Montenegro.

However, in the same period of time, President Milo Gjukanović, through a statement, left open the possibility of correcting the borders./RTV Dukagjini/
