The special representative of the European Union in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, together with the US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, arrived in Belgrade on August 25.

Lajcak first met President Vucic, and half an hour later they were joined by Escobar.

"I had a difficult but responsible discussion with President Vučić.

I conveyed the messages and emphasized that all agreements resulting from the dialogue must be implemented, including the 2011 Freedom of Movement Agreement. We will continue our talks later tonight," he wrote on Twitter.

After the meeting with Vucic, Escobar stated that the meeting was "difficult and long".

"We appreciate the president's commitment to peace and stability.

We will continue the talks", said Escobar.

The Serbian president also spoke about the "difficult meeting".

"We had difficult conversations with Lajçak and Escobar.

The US and EU ambassadors were also there.

We continue tonight with talks after 22:00", said Vucic in a video address on Instagram.

"We will always try to maintain peace and stability, we will fight for peace and stability, but we will not for a second deviate from our vital, national and state interests, above all the interests of our people.

There is no surrender," he said.

Their first meeting in Belgrade was with the director of the Office for Kosovo of the Government of Serbia, Peter Petkovic.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, repeated on Wednesday that he will adhere to the decision on license plates and documents.

According to REL sources in Pristina, Kurti is determined that the implementation of the decision will not be postponed.

Lajçak and Escobar stayed in Kosovo for two days, where they met with institutional and opposition party leaders.

On the morning of August 25, they also met with the political representatives of the Serbs in North Mitrovica.

Lajcak said that in the north of Kosovo, the tensions of July 31, when some local Serbs erected barricades, cannot be repeated in order to prevent the Government of Kosovo from implementing its decisions on license plates and travel documents.

The purpose of their visit was said to be to avoid the repetition of tensions in the north of Kosovo.

Some Serbs in the north rebelled on July 31, after the Government of Kosovo decided to re-register their cars - from plates issued by Serbia to Kosovo plates - and to issue Kosovo documents to all Serbs entering Kosovo. .

After the tension of the situation and the suggestion of the international community, the Government of Kosovo postponed the implementation of its decisions to September 1.
