Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today denied that Sonia Gandhi had offered him to become the Congress chief.

In Gujarat, Gehlot told the media, 'I am hearing this from the media, I am not aware of it.

Whatever responsibilities have been given to me, I am fulfilling them.

, Sonia Gandhi met Gehlot on Tuesday and asked him to take over the post of Congress chief.

The election of the new Congress president is to be held by September 20.

Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of president after the party's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Since then, he has been refusing to become the president again.

Rahul Gandhi reportedly says that the time has come to become the president of the non-Gandhi family.

Earlier this week, Ashok Gehlot had said that Rahul Gandhi should respect the sentiments of Congress workers and accept the post of president.

Many people will sit at home, we will face the consequences.

He (Rahul Gandhi) should accept this post himself, understanding the sentiments of the Congress people in the country.

Ashok Gehlot is also included in the list of non-Gandhi names for party president.

So, I think they should accept it.
