One of the causes of the floods in Karlovo, which followed the heavy rains of the last two days, is the dumping of waste on the bed of the Old River passing through the city.

This was stated by the Deputy Mayor Nikolay Tsvetkov to the BNR.

"Construction materials, household waste, white goods, all kinds of things that obstruct the water are thrown into the riverbed. The bridges are silted up and the sediments are from the mountain, because the elevation is quite large, in combination with the waste, we got this thing. I can't explain it - he's doing repairs for 20,000, he won't take out 80 BGN for one container," the deputy mayor of Karlovo told reporter Hristina Yordanova.
