The President of Poland Andrzej Duda arrived in Kyiv today to meet his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky

"Polish President Andrzej Duda has arrived in Kyiv. We welcome our friend in the capital," the Ukrainian border service wrote on Telegram, and accompanied the message with a video of Duda being greeted at the station upon his arrival by train.

Duda's visit is part of the "Crimea Platform" initiative, which brings together the main countries supporting Ukraine and was created even before the Russian invasion of Ukraine six months ago.

The presidents will certainly discuss the way in which Poland can help, including politically, in order to convince other countries to offer support and continue it, explained today at a press conference Pawel Schroth - head of the Polish presidential administration.

According to him, Warsaw will insist on the need to sanction Moscow with "decisive restrictive measures" so that Russian citizens "understand how serious the aggression committed by their country is".

President Duda is also convinced that all Western countries, the EU, NATO must act in solidarity, Schroth added. 

Andrzej Duda: Russia is a danger to Europe

In a video address before the start of the second high-level meeting of the "Crimean Platform", which will take place online today, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine will significantly expand the format of the initiative, Ukrinform reported.

Details will be announced later in the day.

"Crimean Platform" is a consultation and communication format created by President Zelensky in August 2021 to structure all issues related to the peninsula, reports Ukrinform.

The goal is the development of practical approaches to draw attention to the situation in Crimea and discuss the possibilities for its return to the composition of Ukraine.

Participation in today's Crimean Platform meeting has been confirmed by about 60 countries and international organizations, among them there are nearly 40 at the level of presidents and prime ministers, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced, as quoted by Ukrinform.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will take part in the discussion, DPA reported.
