It is believed that Shri Krishna was born in Rohini Nakshatra on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month.

This year this coincidence is falling on 18th and 19th August.

The festival of Janmashtami will be celebrated on this day.

This time, on the day of Janmashtami, there is a coincidence of growth and Dhrav Yoga.

1. According to the scriptures, on the first night of Janmashtami fast one should eat satvik food.

3. On the day of Janmashtami, decorate the fasting Lakshmi Narayan with lotus flowers.

Offer fruits, curd, milk, Panchamrit to Shri Krishna.

Consuming basil leaves in water is considered very fruitful.

4. At the time of worshiping during Janmashtami fast, your face should be in the east or north direction.

5. Vratis should break their fast only after worshiping at midnight.

Panchamrit has a lot of importance on Krishna Janmashtami.

It is made up of two words.

Pancha and Amrit.. which means 'five' and 'nectar.

Panchamrit is considered to be the drink of the gods.

It is made from milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar.

Panchamrit is first offered to the deity, after which it is distributed among the devotees in the form of prasad.

The milk used in Panchamrita is considered to be pure and purity, Ghee for strength and victory, Honey for dedication and concentration, Sugar for sweetness and Yogurt for prosperity.

According to Hindu beliefs, the offering of Panchamrit is most dear to Lord Krishna.

Therefore, it is auspicious to offer Panchamrit to Kanha while worshiping on the day of Sri Krishna's birth anniversary.

Therefore, the fasting of Janmashtami can open the fast with Panchamrit only after worship at midnight.
