A 72-hour protest by farmers against the Center has started from today in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.

About 10,000 farmers of Punjab are taking part in this protest.

In fact, the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) had announced a protest from August 18 to 20 against the central government demanding 'justice' in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

Punjab farmers on Wednesday left for Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh to take part in a 72-hour-long sit-in against the Center on the call of the United Kisan Morcha.

Senior farmer leaders like Rakesh Tikait, Darshan Pal and Jogendra Ugra will also participate in this three-day protest.

The farmers are also demanding withdrawal of the cases registered against them from the Center during the agitation against agricultural laws.

Apart from this, the SKM has also demanded compensation to the families of farmers killed during the protest and legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the crops.

Not only this, the farmers also demanded the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, whose son Ashish was arrested in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

The farmers were protesting against the visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) president Joginder Singh Ugrahan had said on Wednesday that they were going to Lakhimpur Kheri on the call of SKM.

"We will take part in a 72-hour-long dharna there," he said. BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) general secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokrikalan had said that around 2,000 farmers, including women, left for Uttar Pradesh to participate in the protest. have departed.

BKU (Doaba) president Manjit Singh Rai had said that 10,000 farmers from Punjab would take part in the protest.
