The new WhatsApp app for Windows no longer requires a connection to a phone to send, receive and sync messages.

An update on the WhatsApp page reveals that the refreshed Windows app has exited beta and is available for download from the Microsoft Store.

Before that, Windows users had to download the WhatsApp web-based desktop app or access the messaging service from their web browser.

Oh wow, the new version of WhatsApp is now out of beta.

It's a modern Windows app which replaces the old electron/web version.

You can receive messages without the app being turned on, and you don't need to be connected to a phone.

The new app is native to Windows, which should make it faster and more responsive.

The redesigned WhatsApp has a slightly cleaner interface compared to the previous version.

Of course, the biggest difference is that you no longer need to keep your phone online all the time to sync messages between your phone and the desktop app.

The company states that it is also currently working on a native application for macOS.

The WhatsApp multi-device feature is out of beta and fully available.

It allows you to connect up to four devices to one WhatsApp account, without the need for a phone.

Everything is secured with end-to-end encryption.
