On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR, the world-famous opera and pop singer Muslim Magomayev, a commemorative event was held in the Alley of Honor.

APA reports that President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva sent a wreath to the memorial event.

In addition to the Minister of Culture Anar Karimov and family members of the late artist, representatives of culture and the public, artists, and media workers took part in the event.

His wife, Tamara Sinyavskaya, who gave a speech, noted that Muslim Magomayev is always remembered.

Rector of Baku Music Academy, People's Artist Farhad Badalbeyli spoke about his friendship with Muslim Magomayev: "Muslim was a good person as well as a good artist. He will always live in the hearts of the Azerbaijani people."

Minister of Culture Anar Karimov emphasized that the late artist's art was wide-ranging: "Muslim Magomayev is an artist who contributed not only to Azerbaijani music, but to world music in general. He was a good person, a good friend, and a great artist," the minister noted.

It should be noted that Muslim Magomayev died on October 25, 2008 - at the age of 66.
