With the protocol, which was signed last month, governments have an obligation within two years of any results being achieved to implement them, Maricic said.

Of course, this happens step by step and through the filters of the institutions, Deputy Prime Minister Maricic noted.

The task of the Commission is to confirm points and texts for joint celebration and possible correction in the textbooks.

Maricic noted that this text, which has been agreed upon, both Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia have the obligation to implement it in their system and this will function on the principle of reciprocity, i.e.

it will only apply if applied together in both systems.

As for the content of the agreement, Maricic said at a press conference in the government that it depends on the historians, but reminded that it is worth mentioning that "the Commission includes seven top historians that we as a country have appointed, including those , who have meanwhile left this historical commission, who have agreed on the text around King Samuel".

We fully support the Commission's work and will help as much as we can as an institution.

Of course, we will be careful to protect our interests, because we trust the people who work there, and all steps related to the implementation of what was agreed will be coordinated with our filters of institutions and with the textbook committees and all other instances in the ministry of education and science and the government will not take a single step unilaterally, so everything we will do, we expect Sofia to do as well, said the Deputy Prime Minister in the government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Boyan Maricic, quoted by the MIA agency.
