In London, measures are being introduced to limit the use of water, as of August 24, the largest water supply company in Great Britain, "Thames Water", announced today, as quoted by France Press.

Nearly 15 million people in the capital and the Oxford area in the west are being banned from watering their gardens, filling small and large pools, washing their cars, windows and patios with hoses, the company said.

For the first time in 10 years, such measures to limit water use are affecting London, where drought in recent months has turned parks into desperately dry areas.

Several water companies have already announced similar bans, mainly in the south of the country, but also in Yorkshire.

In case of repeated non-observance of the ban in the London area, the offenders are threatened with criminal prosecution, and for one time only a warning is issued, notes BTA.
