New Delhi:

Billionaire industrialist and Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani has been given 'Z' category VIP security cover of CRPF commandos by the central government.

Official sources said on Wednesday that this security cover will be on "payment basis" across the country.

Its expenditure can be around 15-20 lakh rupees per month.

Sources said 60-year-old Gautam Adani has been provided security on the basis of a risk estimation report prepared by central security agencies.

He told that the Union Home Ministry has asked the VIP Security Wing of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to handle this work and now the security squad is with Adani.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani was given 'Z+' category security cover of CRPF commandos by the central government in 2013.

A few years later, his wife Nita Ambani was given a lower-class security cover.

Significantly, according to the Forbes real-time billionaires list, in July, Indian businessman Gautam Adani became the fourth richest person in the world.

Earlier, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates used to be at the fourth position among the world's richest people.

According to Forbes, 60-year-old business tycoon Gautam Adani's net worth reached $ 115.5 billion while Bill Gates's wealth stopped at $104.6 billion.

Mukesh Ambani of India is at 10th place in the list with $90 billion.
