The United States Ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, has stated that the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo would not be a unique model, and that examples of such an Association already exist in multi-ethnic areas in Europe.

"The idea of these talks is for Kosovo and Serbia to prepare for the European future, and I think that is what we can see in multi-ethnic societies throughout Europe, similar to what was thought in Kosovo, it is about the Association of municipalities with a majority Serbian.

It would not be a unique example, as similar models exist in other parts of Europe," said Hill when asked why the United States is not pushing forward the process of forming the Association, Telegraph reports.

The American ambassador to Serbia has answered the questions of the citizens that they put to him through Twitter.

On the other hand, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Gabriel Escobar, stated at the beginning of this month that all agreements between Pristina and Belgrade must be respected, including the agreement on the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.

Belgrade constantly insists on the formation of the Association, which is part of the agreements reached in Brussels, while Pristina emphasizes that the AKS must be in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo.
