Passengers burnt in fire after oil tanker and bus collision in Pakistan (symbolic photo)

At least 20 people were killed in an

accident  between a

passenger bus 

and an oil tanker in

Pakistan

's Punjab province on Tuesday .

Rescue personnel gave this information.

This is the second major road accident in the province within three days.

Police said that the incident happened on a 'motorway' in Multan, about 350 km from Lahore.

A spokesman for the emergency service 'Rescue 1122' said, "20 people were killed in a collision between a bus and an oil tanker going from Lahore to Karachi.

After the collision, the bus caught fire, due to which the passengers were caught in the fire.

He said that six passengers who got burnt in the fire have been admitted to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

His condition is said to be serious.

He said, “The bodies of some of the people who lost their lives in the accident were completely scorched and their identity is yet to be ascertained.

Their bodies will be handed over to the family for DNA test.

After the accident, both the vehicles came under fire, causing a lot of trouble for the rescue and fire brigade teams in carrying out the rescue operation, he said.

Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi expressed grief over the accident and directed the concerned health authorities to provide better treatment to the injured.

He has also asked the administration to help the families of those who lost their lives in the accident, in identifying the dead.
