A skyscraper modeled after the Albanian national hero Skenderbeg will be built in the center of Tirana, designed by a Dutch architectural studio, MIA reported.

The building will be 85 meters high and will be built on Skanderbeg Square, where his statue is located, which served as the inspiration for the architects for the building.

The skyscraper will have a residential, business and commercial section, and its human head appearance is achieved with curved terraces that have a different shape on each floor to emphasize the nose, ears and chin.

Digital simulations of the project show an amorphous white building with terraces that circle around its axis and form what resembles Skanderbeg's facial features, modeling his profile in concrete and glass.

It will be one of the tallest buildings in the world that serve as a sculpture of a person.

The building highlights Albania's history, character and present as it begins negotiations for EU membership, said Vinny Mas, the founder of design firm MVRDV.

With his distinctive eagle nose and large beard, the Albanian national hero Skenderbeg is a frequent presence on the streets and squares of Albania.

Local residents joke that since Prime Minister Edi Rama is also very tall and big, has a beard and looks more and more like Skanderbeg, the head-shaped building might end up looking more like him, BTA notes.
