London:

Current Foreign Minister Liz Truss, who is in the race for prime ministership and leadership of the ruling Conservative Party in Britain, has a decisive 22-point lead over her nearest rival and former finance minister Rishi Sunak.

This information has come from the released results of a survey conducted among Tory (Conservative) members.

According to an 'Opinium Poll' conducted by 'The Observer' newspaper involving 570 members of the Conservative Party, 61 per cent of the members supported the truss, while 39 per cent spoke of supporting Indian-origin Sunak.

The members surveyed are eligible to vote in the election of the party leadership and the one who leads the party becomes the Prime Minister.

It is noteworthy that September 2 has been fixed as the last date for members of the Conservative Party to elect the successor of outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson by voting by postal ballot, with only about three weeks left now.

According to the survey, Sunak has been able to bridge this gap (between Truss and himself) only marginally in recent times.

Chris Curtis of 'Opinium' told the newspaper: "The moment we found out about the last two candidates, it was clear that all the equations were in favor of the truss. Our latest Opinium poll is only to find out that What is his edge among party members?

He said, "Many members have already voted and returned their ballots, so there is very little chance that Truss will not become prime minister in September. It is clear that Sunak's biggest problem is trust. However, some members support his arguments on economic issues. support, but the opinion formed among the members that he is not honest or not trustworthy enough for this top post is not enough to change their (members') views."
