At 5:00 pm this Saturday, Cuba and Chile will meet in the semifinals of the Pan American Volleyball Cup, which is being held in Gatineau, Canada.

In the other semifinal, the locals will face the United States.

The Cubans have reached this stage undefeated.

Their last game, against the United States, a rival that they could face again if they both reach the final, ended with a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-20 and 25-19).

The Cuban team has won its last 16 presentations in the preparatory competitions for the World Championship, which will be held in Slovenia, from August 26 to September 11, 2022. The only team in this Pan American Cup that they have not faced is Brazil. .

The Cuban team has improved in many aspects of its game, such as unforced errors.

They committed 18 fouls against the United States out of 23, against the Dominican Republic, 26 out of 16, and in the victory over Chile –third in a row this year–, 17 times out of 21.

The statistics reflect the leadership of the Cubans in the tournament.

They register 136 attacks, 78 good and 30 failed in 244 attempts, for more than 55% success.

In the receipt they add 107 excellent and 10 faults, in a total of 160 attempts, with 60.63% effectiveness.

The team also has the second best libero in the tournament: Yander García.

In individual statistics, Jesús Herrera is in 15th place among the best scorers, with 30 points (22 in attacks, 3 blocks and 5 in services).

With his 5 direct points, Herrera leads in aces together with Miguel Ángel López.

Center back Liván Osoria is the fourth best player in blocking: 6 effectives and 13 fouls.
