Telegram co-creator Pavel Durov said on Friday that

Apple required the instant messaging service to remove so-called Telemoji,

animated versions of standard emojis, from its latest update.

"After the extensive media coverage of my previous post, Apple responded with a demand to tone down our pending Telegram update by removing Telemoji, higher quality vector-animated versions of standard emoji," the businessman wrote in his post. Telegram channel.

Durov called the US tech giant's demand "a disconcerting move" because, according to him, Telemoji "would add a new dimension to its low-resolution static emojis and significantly enrich its ecosystem."

However, the co-founder of the platform has stated that this "is good for Telegram in the long term", since

now his team will make Telemoji "more unique and recognizable".

Previously, Durov lamented that updates to his messaging platform "often" do not reach consumers at the expected time because they have to undergo "the dark 'review process' imposed on all mobile applications by technology monopolies" .

"For example, our next update, which is poised to revolutionize the way people express themselves in messages, has been stuck in Apple's 'review' for two weeks, with no explanation or comment provided by Apple," denounced.

In June, the company launched Telegram Premium, a paid version of its messaging platform, with additional exclusive features, such as dozens of unique 'stickers' with full-screen animations and exclusive reactions to messages.
