Google has released a browser version of its "Read Along" Android app.

According to foreign media, Telegrafi reports, the site includes hundreds of illustrated stories at several different reading levels.

After children select a story, they begin reading into their device's microphone.

Words are highlighted in blue after they have read them and misspelled words are underlined in red.

Supported browsers include Chrome, Firefox and Edge, with others (including Safari) coming soon, Google says.

Stories are available in several languages, including English, Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese.

Google has also added new stories to the Read Along collection, which will be available later this year on both the web and Android versions.

Read Along's Android app has been used by more than 30 million children since its launch in 2019.

The move to the desktop will not only give children more device options, but also allow many people to read on larger screens.

This is something that teachers have noticed to be important for young students, especially those with vision problems.
