Mumbai:

On this long weekend, two of Bollywood's biggest stars are facing each other at the box office.

Due to this, film lovers are stuck in confusion.

Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' will be released on Thursday, that is, on the day of Raksha Bandhan.

On the other hand, another big film - Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' will be in his competition.

Talking to NDTV, Akshay Kumar expressed hope that the audience will have a place for both the films.

He said, "It is a big weekend and we have about three to four holidays. Me and Aamir pray that both the films go on."

Weekend holidays will start from Raksha Bandhan tomorrow and will end with Independence Day on Monday 15th August.

At first glance, in 'Raksha Bandhan', Akshay Kumar plays the troubled brother of four sisters.

A brother who has to arrange the marriages of sisters before marrying himself.

'Lal Singh Chaddha' is a remake of Tom Hanks' Oscar-winning hit Forrest Gump.

Along with Akshay, four new co-actresses are in the roles of his sisters.

Bhumi Pednekar is in the role of his girlfriend.

Apart from Aamir Khan, 'Lal Singh Chaddha' also stars Naga Chaitanya and Kareena Kapoor in important roles.

However, the themes of both the films are almost the same.

The core of a film is emotional and the other is comic.

Had 'Lal Singh Chaddha' released according to its original schedule, there would never have been a box office clash.

VFX rescheduled this big film several times.

In its previous release date, it was competing with Yash's 'KGF: Chapter 2'.

'KGF-Chapter 2' broke box office records.

Whether 'Raksha Bandhan' or 'Lal Singh Chaddha' will do wonders at the box office, remains to be seen.

Trolls have come to the fore for comments made by Aamir Khan in 2015 and a recent tweet by 'Raksha Bandhan' writer Kanika Dhillon.

Both the films faced sharp comments on social media with the call for boycott.

Regarding the boycott call, Akshay Kumar told NDTV, "There is no point in doing this. We are hurting our economy... Some people are saying, ok good luck."

Directed by Aanand L Rai, 'Raksha Bandhan' stars Akshay Kumar as Saadia Khatib, Sahajmeen Kaur, Smriti Shrikant and Deepika Khanna on screen as sisters.
