Although smoking destroys their bodies, they still survive and manage to live a hundred years

All smokers know that because of their habits their health is endangered and that they risk dying at a young age.

However, some of them, despite such danger, live long.

American scientists have discovered that some smokers experience old age, even though they smoke, they have to thank their genes for that, Telegraph reports.

Scientists have long studied long-lived smokers and noticed that they have one thing in common – the longevity gene.

These genes enable them to be more resistant to the harmful substances of cigarettes.

Those who have these genes have at the same time 11 percent less chance of getting sick from any type of cancer.

In the longevity of smokers we have discovered a number of genetic types, which are the same as the types in people who live long, but who are not smokers.

"Those genes work in such a way that they promote rapid regeneration of cells and promote their better resistance to a variety of harmful factors that people are exposed to, including smoking," notes scientist Morgan Levine.
