Prime Minister Albin Kurti expressed his happiness for the approval of the new Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of Kosovo, which was voted on July 28 of this year.

Kurti has spoken about the problems and delays in the voting of this regulation in the past.

"The approval of the Regulation comes after a long effort by the Assembly of Kosovo to review the rules of operation of the highest institution.

The process of revising the Regulation had started in 2012 and continued in each legislature, with the aim of addressing the identified problems that did not work, but despite the need for efforts, its approval had not happened", said Kurti.

He mentioned the challenges of approving the regulation, because 2/3 of the votes of all deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo were required.

"Approval has always been a political challenge for the Assembly, because for its approval a qualified majority of at least 2/3 of the votes of all the deputies of the Assembly was required.

This required a broad consensus of the political spectrum represented in the Assembly", stated Kurti.

According to the Prime Minister, the new Regulation addresses the main challenges that have followed the work of the Assembly since 2010.

"Two were the main factors that prevented the completion of this process before: the institutional instability and the lack of political will of the political subjects in the Assembly", he said.

In the end, Kurti said that everyone should be committed so that the level of work and accountability of the Assembly of Kosovo becomes an example of accountability.
