Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien on Monday hit out at the government's decision to curtail the monsoon session of Parliament.

Both houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die on Monday.

Derek O'Brien said, "This is the seventh time in a row that Parliament's session has been shortened. Stop making fun of Parliament. We will fight for its sanctity and PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have to convert this great institution into Gujarat Gymkhana. will stop it." 

In a tweet on August 4, O'Brien predicted that Parliament would be stopped prematurely.

He tweeted, "There is a discussion on Parliament Street that the government wants to end the monsoon session on August 8 instead of August 12. Bad. Why is the Narendra Modi government running away from Parliament."

On Monday, in his farewell speech to outgoing Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, O'Brien had a series of questions he was expected to answer.
