The basis of the Concept of tax reform is the expansion of the tax base through several changes in profit tax, personal income tax and value added tax, as well as green taxation.

These aspects will be discussed and debated with all social participants in advance.

Whether or not progressive taxation will be decided will be part of the public debate.

Also, intensive work will be done in the direction of reducing the gray economy and improving services in the public sector.

These were the orders of the Minister of Finance, Fatmir Besimi, in the meeting with journalists on the occasion of the beginning of the public discussion on tax reforms.

The tax reform concept is based on the Tax Reform Strategy, which is a long-term, well-planned and analyzed process, respectively part of the major fiscal reform for SMART public finance or smart public finance.

With the improvement of revenue collection, more funds will be provided for development projects in the medium term, while in the short term there will be more funds for anti-crisis measures and economic recovery.

Answering the journalists' question, Minister Besimi emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Moldova is working intensively on the new package of anti-crisis measures, which will be presented to the public.

Besimi stressed that the concept of tax policy reforms in the field of profit tax and personal income tax refers to the review of preferential tax treatments that unbalance the neutrality of the tax system through favoring categories of tax obligors or activities.

Thus, they negatively affect his justice and contribute to the increase of inequality in society.
