Storms on Friday battered parts of the Delaware beach, with winds that sent umbrellas flying and even ending up in the ocean.

According to foreign media, the Telegraph reports, the rain and wind hit the southern coast of Delaware and the images published show Bethany Beach.

Mark Eichmann, a reporter for WHYY, called the video "utterly apocalyptic in appearance."

The Delaware coast faced a downpour on Friday, with winds gusting up to 44 miles per hour (71 kilometers per hour), according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are common during summer afternoons as moisture and rising air combine to form heavy clouds.

Thus, winds associated with storms can be strong and lead to damage when they strike trees, power lines, or buildings.

But fortunately, no power outages or other damage from the storm was reported.

Delaware's south coast is a popular summer vacation spot for many people in the mid-Atlantic, home to beach towns like Bethany Beach, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach.
