Brazilian police have arrested a German diplomat who is believed to have killed his husband at their home in Rio de Janeiro, then tried to cover up the crime, BNR reported.

Uwe Herbert Hahn, the German consul, told authorities that his husband, Walter Henry Maximilian Biot, who is a Belgian citizen, fell ill on Friday night, fainted and fatally hit his head.

However, after analyzing the body and inspecting their apartment, the police found that Biot had been severely beaten.

The consul's version does not match the conclusions of the forensic experts, explained the police in Rio de Janeiro.

According to local media, Khan will not be able to benefit from his diplomatic immunity given the nature of the crime.

The couple had been married for 20 years.

So far, there is no comment from the German embassy in Brazil.
