Since July 15, the cases of COVID-19 have reached large numbers, where in the 24-hour report of the Ministry of Health almost every day the number of positive cases reaches close to 2 thousand.

The Ministry of Health has called the wave of infections easier than that of last year, while infectious disease experts have said that citizens' lack of awareness about vaccination has influenced this situation.

It has been almost 3 weeks since the number of cases with COVID-19 is reaching nearly 2 thousand cases per day.

As it has been 2 years and 4 months since the start of the pandemic in Kosovo, different variants of COVID have engulfed the country.

From the Ministry of Health, they have shown that the strength of the coronavirus this year is less compared to last year.

"Covid-19 has so far had several different waves with different severities.

In the summer of last year, there was a wave of the Delta variant, which was quite severe both in terms of the rapid transmission of the virus and the high number of cases, and many cases of death", the Ministry said. of Health.

According to the Ministry, although the number of cases is high, for now the disease is more easily overcome.

No new measures for COVID-19 are expected, apart from the recommendation of wearing a mask in closed environments and vaccination of the population.

Infectologist, Hamdi Ramadani has clarified which factors are affecting the increase in cases of COVID-19.

"The great arrival of immigrants, on the one hand, the large mass gatherings in restaurants, parties, without masks, without distance, and on the other hand, many citizens have not yet received the vaccine or the third and fourth dose, are factors that influence the appearance of this situation and we, as an experienced infection expert, have expected this situation to happen", Hamdi Ramadani, Infectologist.

Ramadani added that the lack of interest of the population to be vaccinated with the third and fourth dose continues to be a problem.

"In our country, there are over 824,000 citizens with 2 doses of the vaccine, while over 903,000 citizens with one dose of the vaccine are not protected from the COVID-19 virus from the variants that may appear in the coming days or weeks, and the possibility of infections is possible, including more than 200,000 recovered citizens, even they do not have solid protection", announced Hamdi Ramadani, Infectologist.

The Ministry of Health recommends citizens to be vaccinated, as giving more than 1.8 million doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 has helped reduce the number of cases and prevent many deaths.
