After a five-hour lull, sirens warning of airstrikes were again activated in southern Israel as well as along the Gaza Strip.

On the other hand, the Israeli army claims that since the start of the attack on Israel, 580 rockets have been fired from Gaza, but the "Iron Dome" anti-aircraft defense has destroyed 97 percent of them in the air, Telegraph reports.

The armed forces of Israel last evening carried out airstrikes on the city of Rafah, where as a result one of the leaders of the Islamic Jihad in the southern part of Gaza was killed.

It is about Khaled Mansour, the second man in the hierarchy in the Islamic Jihad group.

The Israelis point out that Mansour was killed along with two other senior officials: the commander of the Rafah brigade, Khattab Amassi, and Ziad Madalalom, who was Mansour's deputy.

In total, 28 Palestinians were killed, including six children and several fighters.

The Israelis also arrested 20 Palestinians believed to be linked to Islamic Jihad in the West Bank.

Earlier, the first leader of the Islamic Jihad, Taysir al-Jabari, commander of the Al-Quds Brigade, a branch of the Islamic Jihad, was killed.

He was killed during airstrikes when his apartment in central Gaza was hit by a rocket.

The Ministry of Defense has published the images of the attack.
