The head of EULEX in Kosovo, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, reacted after the Border Police was attacked with firearms today in Lake Ujman.

Through a post on Twitter, he said that these attacks, apart from being dangerous, are criminal acts that must be stopped immediately.

Therefore, he announced that EULEX will increase patrols in that area.

"Today's shootings in the lake of Gazivoda/Ujman are also an attack with firearms against the Kosovo Police.

No one was hurt, but these attacks are not only dangerous, they are criminal acts and must be stopped immediately.

EULEX will increase its patrols in the area", Wigemark wrote.

Regarding the case, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has also reacted, saying that the attack is being investigated.

He announced that the police unit of the Police Station for Border Surveillance (SPMK) in Zubin Potok was shot about 10 times today, while they were getting ready for a routine control by boat in Lake Ujman.

"This is the second time in less than a week that the Kosovo Police has been attacked by criminal gangs in the northern part of our territory, just six days after Sunday's incidents," wrote the head of the executive on Facebook.

"Fortunately, we escaped without casualties and now a full investigation is underway in this case.

Today, there are no barricades on the road", added Kurti.

But, as he said, criminal gangs continue to barricade themselves against Kosovo's law enforcement institutions and the fight against organized crime.
