The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres have discussed by phone the latest developments surrounding the supply of grain from Ukraine within the framework of a recently signed agreement, Anadolu Agency reported.

The first ship carrying Ukrainian grain crossed the Bosphorus on Wednesday on its way to Lebanon after undergoing an inspection off Istanbul.

Today, three more vessels sailed from Ukrainian ports to different destinations around the world, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced.

The grain deliveries are made under an agreement signed in Istanbul on July 22 between Turkey, the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the United Nations, providing for the safe export of grain and food products from Ukrainian ports.

The agreement envisages the opening of three Ukrainian ports - Odesa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny - for the grain, which could not be exported due to the already ongoing six-month war between Russia and Ukraine.

Separately, a Joint Coordination Center was established in Istanbul to inspect cargo.
