China, furious over Taiwan, imposed sanctions on Nancy Pelosi (File Photo)

The Foreign Ministry of

China

announced the imposition of sanctions on

Nancy Pelosi , Speaker of the

US

House of Representatives on Friday.

This announcement from China comes after his

Taiwan visit

this week .

Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan has infuriated China so much that it was forced to demonstrate force near Taiwan.

China's foreign ministry said that Pelosi was seriously interfering in China's internal affairs and undermining China's sovereignty and border integrity, so China would impose sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family.

China has in the past few years imposed sanctions on several US officials for acting against its perceived interest, speaking out on human rights in Xinjiang and Hong Kong, sometimes not even stating what sanctions are being imposed.

In March this year, China said it was "imposing visa restrictions on US officials who were allegedly lying on human rights issues in China."

China however did not make this list public.

China has also imposed sanctions on former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former US President Donald Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro.

These people were banned from entering China and doing business with Chinese institutions.

China considers Taiwan as its part and says that one day Taiwan will have to fully meet in China, even if it has to be done by force.
