The US Senate adopted a resolution to ratify the protocols for the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO, reports Nova TV.

The meeting was broadcast by the television channel C-SPAN.

95 senators supported the document, one - Republican Josh Hawley (of Missouri) - voted against, and his colleague Rand Paul (of Kentucky) abstained.

In accordance with the peculiarities of American legislation, the ratification procedure is carried out directly by the president of the country, the Senate gives its consent to this.

Now the head of state, Joe Biden, will sign the relevant documents for the entry of Stockholm and Helsinki into NATO and send them to the alliance.
