Every day, the police catch dozens of drivers sitting behind the wheel with drugs and alcohol in their blood.

Some are arrested after serious accidents with casualties and injuries on the road.

Here is the chronicle of the most drastic cases of the last month.

Sofia

Late in the evening of July 6, former football player Georgi Semerdzhiev drove his jeep through a red light on the capital's Cherni vrah boulevard and, after hitting a taxi, hit two young girls.

They die on the spot.

The perpetrator has more than 50 violations.

Later it became clear that Semerdzhiev is a systemic drug addict and was caught by the control authorities six times without a driver's license, BTV reported.

A record for the capital: a week after the serious accident with Georgi Semerdzhiev, they caught a driver with 5.11 percent alcohol in his blood.

The 33-year-old man also tested positive for drugs.

He was detained for 72 hours.

Midnight action with a race in Burgas.

Again, a driver was caught behind the wheel, after using drugs.

29-year-old Stoyan Georgiev confirmed that he never had a driver's license.

In the chase with the police, he injured two police officers.

During the race, the drugged driver was driving a foreign car.

They caught a driver with 82 fines on AM "Trakia"

Another case involving a drugged driver is taking place in Sliven.

The driver of the car is again without a driver's license and tested positive for drugs.

He refuses to stop at the police baton and hits two cars.

The 33-year-old driver got out of the car and ran away.

After a short chase, he was arrested.
