China is conducting this military exercise, provoked by Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

's Defense Ministry has claimed that

China

has fired several "ballistic missiles" into the sea near Taiwan on Thursday.

China is conducting its military exercises by encircling Taiwan in the sea.

Taiwan has described it as a "prudential move endangering regional peace".

China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has also confirmed the missile was fired.

to Taiwan, China announced live-fire military exercises from Tuesday to Sunday to threaten Taiwan.

An AFP reporter on the island of Pingtan said he saw several small missiles flying in the sky.

The missiles released white smoke and there was a loud bang.

An AFP journalist said he could not identify the missiles, but they were released from nearby military bases.  

Taiwan's military also did not confirm where the missiles fell or whether they had passed over the island.  


China is conducting military exercises in many areas around Taiwa.

Some areas are only 20 kilometers off the coast of Taiwan.

This military exercise will continue till Sunday.
